One of the places we called home over this past decade was the city of Minot in North Dakota. We moved there from Seattle, when Luke was about 8-9 mos old. The city had just experienced a massive flood that left many of the residents without home or business. The destruction was unlike any I'd ever seen. Beau 's family was hit hard, but thankfully were safe, and provided us with the coolest place to live... a gun club turned shipping terminal turned apartment! Luke learned to walk there and our "6 month stay" turned into 2 of the best years of our life! Luke got to know his Bumpa and Anya and Auntie Daydee... and I was welcomed as part of the family in a way that probably couldn't have happened, had we not lived across the gravel parking lot (FedEx) from each other! It was an incredible time in our lives, one which gave us so many memories. This painting is from a photo I took out of the Bricks Studio building last time we were there... when Luke saw it he was filled with joy and sadness at the same time - it's been too long, but we're looking forward to the time when we can go back.
