redeye post2

A few days ago Tracy, who covers the CTA for the Chicago Tribune’s redeye, contacted me about doing a blurb with some of my cta pieces, and she posted this today. (i DO miss the CTA!!!) (No offense, King County Metro Transit.) (Well, maybe just a little.)

Aw, now I feel bad for those long green and yellow beauties. It’s not their fault. Sorry buses. I didn’t mean it. (I miss bart, too.) At least we have orca cards here now. It’s easy to add money to them online. And they work for the ferries! I couldn’t believe they were still doing cash and transfers when I got here (although doesn’t muni in sf still do that or do they have a card system now, too?)

oh boy.

a new artist!

Yesterday I was sent this lovely image of a piece of art done by an up-and-coming new Seattle artist named Tiago. He’s only 6 years old and loves to draw! I am quite honored that he likes ninjagrl and has drawn versions of his own ninja girl. This one is great! I love her curls and her polka dot dress… and the turtles are awesome! The one that is climbing that mountain… I wonder what he is up to? It looks like an interesting story! And the one that is on her head? That definitely looks like something Turtle would do!)
It really made my day – and today too! I’m still smiling! :) And he’s inspired me to get back to my desk and start painting! Thanks, Tiago!

oh my. what a horrible waste of resources! (but i really want them all) I would play with them. We’d have a colony. There would be rulers. And serfs. And pirates. ..
do you think goodwill has 24 sets of decorative mini chicks? of course not. who would ever get rid of theirs???
(i’d make them peep. A lot.)

2010 has started out fast … we closed the gallery at the end of the year… settling in to life without it, and our new apartment… and a trip to SF for a week and a half. Some work, some fun, some visiting people and places… always amazing flying in. Cloudy, foggy, sunny, rainy, hills, water, homes and sun rays… it is great to be back :)

december???

December 3rd, 2009

wow what happened? how is it december already?
things are happening… we just moved… and we are closing the gallery. at least for now. we’ll see what happens. it was a tough decision, but will be so nice to have more time to focus on other things. So since i can’t work upstairs at the gallery anymore, we have a larger place where i can work at home… it has a great view of the sound! it’s so amazing. Things are still in boxes and we need to get storage options set up, but i just love the afternoon light :) check it out:

things are pretty hectic now… getting ready for our last opening of the year. And at 2316… we’ve decided to shut down halogen… at least for awhile. Time for a break and some new adventures. It’s bittersweet… excited at the possibilty of more time to spend on other things, but we’ve had a lot of fun putting together shows and met a lot of great people. We’ll probably still be putting on a couple random shows in other spaces next year – and who knows… maybe halogen will be back someday…
