i pulled my usual and waited til the last minute to do my finger puppets for olive47’s finger puppet secret santa exchange… i have to send them out by tomorrow so i just made it :) funny that i kept putting it off, cuz it actually was really fun to do something different today. As i got going, i thought of all these other materials i wanted to use, but i could only use what i had in the house to get them done today, but it gave me some ideas for some new projects… i think of these things but oftentimes i never do them… first thing – need to go to a fabric store – or maybe goodwill to get some fabric i can recycle into some kind of ninja doll… let’s see if i ever get to this!

sometimes it scares me how easy it is to hide what’s on the inside. i wonder why people can’t see it. and i wonder what everyone else is feeling and how it differs from what is visible on the outside.
it’s my birthday today.

that’s what we call it. and her. it’s her name, an action, and a state of ktty beingness. is this normal? lol. does anyone else have a ridgeback kitty?? it’s not all the time… but quite often all her fur neatly points into this little ridge that runs the length of her back. what a pie. i love my little turtle freak.

sometimes i just hate hate going to bed at night cuz sleeping is SO boring. (not that i’m like one of those super-busy, always-active people… i’m often quite the lazy little ninja) but the thing that gets me most excited to go to bed is the idea of coffee in the morning. mmmmmmmm morning coffee happiness of hot coffee goodnesssss

our gift for my brother-in-law. (”it’s not what you think it is.”) (but it really was… heheh) we decided we would just wrap up a few things for each other this year… so glad they made it home in time for christmas. they were stuck in san diego sunday with a canceled flight, re-booked for today on an airline with only one flight to seattle per day… they would still be there, but they rented a car and drove home. so we get to be with some family after all! wishing everyone peace and joy, contentment and gratitude this holiday season.

here is the painting i finished today. (subtitle: “i wish i could hide me forever.”)
another wintery day in seattle. no new snow, but the buses are still messed up. last week and this weekend it was pretty exciting… i felt that same giddy excitement as i did when young, waiting for school to be called off. but that’s kinda wearing off and i’m feeling a little antsy and cooped up. i can’t believe tomorrow is christmas eve already. i wish i sounded cheery cuz – well – what’s not to be cheery about? but i feel blue.

so ninja started with an orange dress, and she still likes that one, but she started wearing light blue sometime last year… (maybe it was climate related?) but my new fave is this muddy blueish green… i was going to mention that i only use payne’s gray for blues and greens in my paintings cuz it lends itself towards the muted and muddy, and for some reason i decided to google it and happened upon a discussion page about how people had been warned not to use it. or black. weird. i never thought of anything being off limits. but i sometimes wonder what kind of palettes other artists use… maybe mine is too predictable. (poor, predictable, ninj. always picks grey.) i tend to get by with the payne’s grey, naples yellow, burnt irony reddish something or other (i have one more red and one more orangey) and black and white. seems to work for me. but i still wonder what everyone else does. owel. i don’t know why i thought i’d start another blog… the old one is long defunct. we’ll see. i might just need an outlet for my garbanzo bean musings.
